Licking the fork

A few days ago I turned a little bit older and hopefully a lot wiser (34 years old wiser), and I have to confess that, in spite of the moderate dose of Xanax that I greedily swallowed hoping to sweeten my bitterness and my general malaise, I unavoidably reached a very predictable conclusion: freaking birthdays suckkkk!!!!! I suppose we are somehow programmed to yearly evaluate what the hell happened in the meantime. For some of you disgustingly happy optimistic people out there, this is an opportunity to celebrate, but for the rest of us miserable pessimists, this is a day of torture.
So, mainly because I wanted to stubbornly ignore my yearly depressing episodes (if only they were yearly), I gave in my boyfriend's cunning suggestions to make a Tiramisu cake. And since I had a suspicion this might work better than Xanax...I  accepted the challenge. The result was a disaster: I fu.ked up the yolks, the freaking Mascarpone was too soft and I ended up drinking too much of the strong espresso destined to soak the ladyfingers...and as a consequence another sleepless night.
But Oh MYYY it tasted amazing, it looked horrible but the taste was lovely. So the midnight of my birthday caught me the head in the fridge licking a fork...

I just love love love your post, so brilliantly funny. You are quite the writer of humor. The cat picture is fabulous, too.

Hello!
It's always a pleasure to come to your blog!
Even though my visits are now spaced, I do not forget to make my visits!
This is not negligent, but I started the blog "directory blogspot" and I take a little time even more than expected.
But some time it starts to grow so it's a certain satisfaction fortunately.
I find it difficult at this time to comment, with passwords, many times, you see nothing at all
I hope all is well with you and thank you for your posts!
I wish you a very pleasant day, which I accompany with my modest gift image
Regards
Chris

Happy birthday! It's all a state of mind-- or lack of one when you reach my age. Enjoy your youth!

This is the first time I comment on your site, but I've been reading the articles for about a few months. I admire the passion with which you write the articles and hope someday I can do the same. Love

Wow - I would wish you a Happy Birthday (belated) but I'm not sure how you would react...I'm not that much of an optimist/Little Mary Sunshine but I do love my birthday! Cake is good...

I'm going to be unbearably optimistic, and wish you a happy birthday, and *DUCK*

At 34, if I can remember that long ago, I looked on birthdays as nothing more than a good excuse for a party. No evaluation involved. And it's a good excuse for doing things like sticking your head in a fridge licking a fork.

Happy Belated Birthday girlie! Hey if it makes you feel better, you are still younger by me. Not by too much but still younger. ;-)

I agree Tiramisu is great no matter how it looks. That's funny you had the same birthday cake as me. I know why we are so compatible is because we are both Pieces. :)

Birthdays to me are very much just a day... I do enjoy using it as an excuse to indulge if only to eat my very favorite things... I think that it is a time to evaluate the wonders and successes, also the oopses and the errrrs!!! Don't be to hard on yourself, Please celebrate yourself! That Tiramisu looks amazing... That is the way to indulge!!! ;) (psst.. Happy Purrthday)!

Dear, first of all: congratulations!

For nearly a decade I do not like to celebrate my birthday. I've always been much partying, but I think I suffered a lot while I was married and kind of traumatized. However, it is a special day, because each of us is special in this world.

I was with water in mouth cos I love chocolates. I felt like that cat in front of the cake waiting blow on the candles and finally it will receive a slice!

kisses

Happy Birthday!! Remember age is a state of mind! I was once asked, "if you didn't know how old you were, how old would you be?"
The cake looks wonderful to me. It is one of my very favorites. Blessings to a dear friend, Catherine xoxo

You should give yourself an A for effort because at least you tried to make the best looking cake, and it did taste good so that's what really matters!! I don't care that much for my birthdays either, especially now that I'm getting closer to 50 and some of the things I planned for my life haven't worked out the way I wanted them too. Keep writing honestly about how your feeling, even if you feel like it's a theme of self pity, it is what it is, and when things get better you'll look back on your posts and realize how strong you are because you got through this!
big hugs to you
love ya,
Janet :)

Belated happy birthday! I love Tiramisu! It looks okay to me, but I guess what's important is that it tastes good. :)

Hello!
Yes this is Chris, in small walk on the blogs today, thanking you for your comments!
But I do not spend every two days! It must be said, that the blog "directory", I take a lot of time, the number of people increases daily!
I rely a little on the different people I know, to give it more scale!
It's always nice to come home!
I hope that this visit will find you in good health, and especially lots of love, because that is what gives life!
I wish you a great day
Regards
Chris
